Piet Boon, Architect
In the heart of the Financial District, 101 Wall brings entirely updated downtown living to an art-deco masterpiece. Visionary Dutch designer Piet Boon has introduced his refined signature aesthetic to a building ringed with historic detail, resulting in 52 thoughtfully designed one- to four-bedroom residences and a robust amenity suite that includes a peaceful lounge, a library, a landscaped roof terrace, a children’s playroom, and a training studio. With the East River Esplanade, the historic South Street Seaport, and a plethora of dining and recreation options nearby, 101 Wall offers the ideal downtown location.
101 Wall’s understated lobby features brushed bronze and glass entry doors framed by original art-deco detailing, a new honed limestone floor, and concierge desk complemented by minimalist furnishings from Piet Boon’s own line. Restored original brass elevator doors reference the building’s storied past while contemporary pendant lighting adds a whimsical touch.
Residential entry doors feature a bronze wall sconce and custom bronze residence numbers, while interior doors showcase an original Piet Boon stepped panel design and brushed stainless steel hardware. Gray oak herringbone floors in a matte oil finish, painted wood trim and baseboards, and beamed ceilings provide a sophisticated aesthetic while new, sound-attenuated windows ensure each residence maintains a sense of serenity. Open kitchens allow for seamless entertaining and are fitted with custom white lacquer cabinetry with a brushed oak finish, marble honed slab countertops and backsplash, and Bosch appliances. Cleanly designed master baths with large-format honed white marble tile walls and floors and a custom-designed Piet Boon white lacquer vanity offer a spa-like experience. Many residences offer sweeping East River and downtown Manhattan views.
